GEMINI Book Launch

I had so much fun celebrating the book birthday of Sonya Mukherjee's YA novel GEMINI last night!

First up was dinner in Menlo Park with two Swanky friends: Stephanie Garber (CARAVAL, Flatiron Books, January 2017) and Katie Nelson (DUKE OF BANNERMAN PREP, SkyPony, May 2017). The Sweet Sixteens came out in force for Sonya's launch, as well! Evelyn Skye (CROWN'S GAME), Traci Chee (THE READER), Tara Sim (TIMEKEEPER), and Parker Peevyhouse (WHERE FUTURES END) were also there. I can't tell you how much fun I had, surrounded by such warm and talented authors!

Sonya's launch packed the house at Kepler's Books. She began with a brief, fascinating presentation on the history of famous conjoined twins and how it impacted writing her heroines, conjoined twins Clara and Hailey. GEMINI's book cover is gorgeous--and, being me, of course I was immediately drawn to the perfectly matched flowers, and book-themed cupcakes.

I walked out with my signed copy and can't wait to read this one--top reviews and Kirkus gave it a star. For more info, start here

May YA Instagram Challenge: Writing Soundtrack

Day 4 of the #‎swanky17photochallenge: what I listened to while writing my novel.

I usually write in silence to avoid distraction.... but since THE DISAPPEARANCES is set in the 1940s, sometimes I turned on gorgeous tunes like Billie Holiday to get in the right mindset.

I've got a few "Extras" planned as the release date for THE DISAPPEARANCES nears--which may or may not include a fun Spotify playlist. ;)
